Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has further increased the price of electricity by Tk 0.35 for per KW.
The BERC Chairman Monowar Islam declared about the increase at a press conference on Thursday.
He said that the increased price will come into effect from December next. But the commission will not rise the bulk rate.
Besides, the minimum charge for electricity has been withdrawn. Consequently, 13 percent consumers (30 lakhs lifeline consumers) will have reduced electricity price.
Moreover, the retail price for six million consumers under Rural Electrification Board will remain unchanged.
As a result, around 38 percent of the entire electricity users will not have to pay the increased electricity price.
