At least four people were killed and 25 others, including six policemen, were injured in a clash between supporters of the present and former union council chairmen over establishing supremacy in Nilakhya union of Raipura upazila in Narsingdi on Monday.
Among the deceased, three were identified as Momen Mia, Manik Mia, and Khokon Sarkar
Police said there was long enmity between present Nilakhya UP chairman Tajul and former UP chairman Abdul Haque over establishing control in the area.
On Monday afternoon, both groups with lethal weapons locked in a clash, leaving four dead and injuring others.
Police was informed about four deaths in the clash. However, only one body was recovered from the spot, said Narsingdi police superintendant Amena Begum.
Six injured policemen, including Raipura police officer-in-charge Azharul Islam, were admitted to Raipura upazila health complex, she added.
