Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), KM Nurul Huda said that the Election Commission (EC) has taken the necessary preparation if the government wants an election before the schedule. He was replying queries from journalists at the EC building yesterday.
When asked about the preparations of the EC in case of a poll in advance, the CEC said. “Election in advance depends on the government. We are ready if the government asks us.”
“We have 90 days in line with ballot boxes and other necessary logistics. We just need the completion of paper works”, added KM Nurul Huda, the CEC.
Earlier, the CEC had a meeting with the European Union (EU) Ambassador Rensje Teerink at the Election Commission building. They discussed multifarious issues on the upcoming election in the country.
Huda informed about the meeting and said that the EU has the full confidence on the EC for a free and fair election ahead. The EC is ready to make a congenial atmosphere during the election, said the CEC.
Sources from the EC said that the EU delegations inquired about the use of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) in the next election. But the EC is not prepared to apply EVM in the 11th Parliamentary Election.
The EU has pledged for all the necessary support for the election next.
