BartaBangla Report :: National pacer Mashrafe Bin Mortaza’s tour of Sri Lanka for the ODI series and the lone Twenty20 game fell into jeopardy after the medical reports on Tuesday revealed that the seamer is yet to recover from the knee injury. Though not circulated, it was learnt that the national selection panel has already decided not to send Mashrafe to the pearl of the Indian Ocean for the shorter version of the games.
Dhaka Gladiators skipper injured his knee during the second edition of Bangladesh Premier League. Chief physiotherapist of Bangladesh Cricket Board, Dr. Debashish Chowdhury informed that the 29-year old seamer is suffering from fat pad contusion.
“Mashrafe will need to recover 100percent as going into the matches with such injury will only worsen the injury. He will need at least a week to recover and will need to spend another week in the nets to get into rhythm. He has submitted the report today (Tuesday) and now the selectors will make the decision,” said Dr. Debashish.
Mashrafe’s condition will make the national selectors look for options for the shorter version of the games and the task won’t be easy. Pacer Shafiul Islam has been ruled out of cricket for four weeks while 19-year old Taskin Ahmed, though into practice, has some issue in the knee informed Dr. Debashish.
However, left-arm spinner Enamul Haque jr has recovered fully and is practising under the supervision of BCB Academy coach Richard McInnes.
