BartaBangla Desk :: National Committee to Protect Oil Gas Mineral Resources Power and Ports on Saturday gave the government a deadline to scrap the decision of the controversial Rampal Power Plant Project by October 11.
The timeframe came from the concluding rally of the five-day long Dhaka-to-Sundarbans long march at Mongla.
At the public rally at Rampal, Prof Anu Mohammad, member secretary of the National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources, Power and Ports said the government should cancel the decision of implementing the controversial power project to save Sundarban.
Earlier, the long march “Save the Sundarbans” reached to its final destination, Rampal, to press home its seven-point demands including cancellation of Rampal Thermal Power Plant project, close to the Sundarbans.
The Committee on Tuesday launched its five-day long march from the National Press Club in Dhaka towards the proposed Rampal Power Plant site demanding cancellation of the proposed near the Sundarbans.
