The 16th December is a red letter day in the history of Bangladesh. The nation is all set to celebrate the 47th Victory Day of the country. Bangladesh was liberated after a nine-month-long bloody war on this day in 1971.

The President Md. Abdul Hamid and the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have issued separate message marking the day.

They have wished the nation and congratulated centering the day and also have remembered the supreme sacrifice of the martyrs to bring the victory.

The day will be celebrated across the country amid different events including paying respect to the martyrs of the liberation war, holding discussion session and cultural events.

This is a public holiday. The official events of the day will begin at the old airport area in the capital. The national flag will be hoisted in all the public, private and other buildings.

Different parts of the city and the country will also be decorated.

The President and the Prime Minister will pay their respect that the National Memorial in Savar. An attractive parade has been organized at the old airport are where different forces will take part in the parade.

The media outlets of the country will publish special supplements marking the day.

Almost all the political parties have arranged their own event to celebrate the day.
