Ruling Awami League’s student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Tuesday suspended the activities of its Jagannath University (JnU) unit for an indefinite period following a factional clash on the campus, reports UNB.
“We’ve decided to suspend the activities of our JnU unit and formed a six-member probe body to look into the matter,” BCL general secretary SM Jakir Hossain told UNB.
Four people, including a journalist, were injured in a clash between two factions of BCL over a trifling matter on Tuesday.
The two groups — one led by the JnU BCL president and the other by its general secretary — engaged in the clash around 10:00am over taking photographs.
A chase and counter-chase took place among the BCL activists over the issue.
Contacted, JnU proctor Prof Nur Muhammad said police rushed in and brought the situation under control.
