BartaBangla Report :: Minutes after the High Court declared the registration of Jamaat-e-Islami illegal on Thursday, several hundred activists of the party and its student wing, Islami Chhatra Shibir, vandalised several vehicles barricading Dhaka-Pabna highway in two upazilas of the northern district.
The High Court declared illegal the registration of Jamaat with the Election Commission accepting a writ petition that challenged the legality of the registration of Jamaat as a political party .
As soon as the news spread, the stick-wielding Jamaat-Shibir men took to the highway in Rajapur area of Sadar upazila and in Dashoria area of Ishwardi upazila of the district, reported our Pabna correspondent.
The unruly party men vandalised several vehicles on the highway, spreading panic among the passengers.
The barricade continued till filing the report around 3:40pm.
