BartaBangla Report :: A court on Wednesday rejected remand and bail prayers of BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Amanullah Aman and party chief whip Zainul Abdin Farroque and placed some 151 others on 8-day remand in two cases filed with Paltan Thana.
Metropolitan Magistrate Keshob Roy Chowdhury passed the order after police produced 154 arrested BNP leaders and activists including Rizvi, Aman and Farroque before the judge at noon.
Bdnews24 adds, two courts remanded 151 leaders and activists of the BNP-led 18-Party Alliance to police custody in the two cases.
Judge Keshob Roy Chowdhury granted the police three days to grill the BNP men in police custody in the first case filed under the Speedy Trial Act, while Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ali Hossain granted five days in the second case filed under the Explosives Act.
Earlier, the 154 detained BNP leaders including Rizvi, Aman and Farroque were taken to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court of Dhaka.
On March 12, two Dhaka courts sent BNP joint secretaries general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Amanullah Aman, opposition chief whip Zainul Abdin Farroque and 151 other leaders and activists of the 18-party alliance to jail in two cases.
Police raided the BNP central office on March 11 and arrested over150 leaders and activists of the party, including its acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, and vice chairmen Sadeque Hossain Khoka and Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, opposition chief whip Zainul Abedin Farroque and BNP joint secretaries general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Amanullah Aman.
Mirza Fakhrulr, Sadeque Hossain Khoka and Altaf Hossain Chowdhury were released a day after their arrest.
