Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard sent a boat carrying 56 Rohingyas, who tried to enter Bangladesh through Noyapara area of Teknaf upazila, back to Myanmar early Saturday, report news agency UNB.

Lieutenant commander Jafar Imam Sajib of Bangladesh Coast Guard said they sent back a boat carrying Rohingyas and they also noticed six to seven more boats coming toward Bangladesh coast.

Noticing that a boat was being sent back, the other boats backtracked from there, he added.

On the other hand, Whykong police camp detained 17 Rohingyas who entered Bangladesh illegally and handed them over to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

Lieutenant colonel SM Ariful Isalm, commanding officer of BGB battalion-2, told UNB that after providing humanitarian aid, they sent 17 Rohingyas, who were handed over by police, back to Myanmar.

The district administration had an emergency meeting on Rohingya issue at Upazila Parishad Bhaban this morning.

Deputy Commissioner of Cox’s Bazar Md Ali Hossain and superintendent of Cox’s Bazar Police Dr AKM Iqbal Hossian attended the meeting with Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) MD Main Uddin in the chair.

Chairmen and members of five unions under the upazila participated in the meeting.

DC Md Ali Hossain told local government representatives that no Rohingya will be allowed to enter into Bangladesh this time. Bangladesh will not take any Rohingya newly as the country has many problems. But its humanitarian attitude to Rohingyas will remain unchanged.

“Action would be taken against people who will help Rohingya enter Bangladesh. You (chairmen, members) will remain alert to stop Rohingyas’ entry into the country,” the DC added.

Same kind of meeting was held at Teknaf Upazila Parishad Bhaban at noon.
