Senior BNP leader Moudud Ahmed will have to leave his Gulshan residence where he was staying using the name of his brother, the Supreme Court ruled today.
The apex court today scrapped a High Court verdict that had directed authorities to mutate the house land. It also quashed a graft proceeding against Moudud and his brother Monjur Ahmed on charge of land grabbing.
Now, housing authority Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) can take steps to take possession of the land, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam told the media after the ruling. “He is living there as a land grabber.”
Moudud, however, said that he will file a review petition with the Supreme Court against its verdict.
A five-member bench of the appellate division headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha delivered the verdict today after allowing the appeals of Rajuk and Moudud.
Rajuk had appealed against High Court verdict that directed for mutating the land. Moudud had appealed against a High Court order that upheld a lower court charge acceptance of the graft case.
