Khandker Mosharraf HossainLocal government and cooperatives minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain on Wednesday promised the city dwellers that there will be no water-logging in the capital next year.
“I promise you, there will be no water-logging from next year. Arrangement will be made in a few days for quick disposal of waters,” he told newsmen after attending the ongoing conference of district deputy commissioners, at Bangladesh Secretariat.
The minister termed ‘unusual’ the water-logging situation caused of incessant rains.
“This situation has given us a lesson. We have come to understand where we get stuck at. And we will take swift actions accordingly.”
The minister said his ministry has conducted a survey and found that 18 out of 46 canals in Dhaka need to be rejuvenated.
“We must do this. The WASA has already been instructed to take necessary actions so that waters are removed three hours inside the heavy rain.”
