A moderate 5.5 magnitude earthquake jolted parts of the country at 3.09pm this afternoon, an official of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) confirmed.
“The epicentre of the earthquake was 176 kilometers east of Dhaka Seismic Observatory at Agargaon,” he added.
The location of the earthquake was near India-Bangladesh border region, a message of BMD said.
In Dhaka city, panicked people rushed out of their residences and came to their nearby roads following the jolts, reports news agency BSS.
No casualties and damages were reported till filling of this report.
