Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, also ruling Awami League advisory council member, on Sunday lauded the Election Commission’s roadmap to hold the next general election.
“It is a realistic roadmap. We welcome it,” he said.
The senior politician of the country came up with the remark while talking to reporters at his ministry office hours after EC announced the roadmap.
About BNP’s demand for polls-time supportive government, the veteran Awami League leader said it will not be acceptable if any political party press an anti-constitutional demand.
He added: “The government will not accept any demand that goes against the spirit of the constitution.”
In response to a question, Tofail said it is BNP’s own matter whether they would take part in the national polls. “But, I think, the party will take a lesson from the past.”
