BartaBangla Desk :: President M Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Leader of the Opposition Begum Khaleda Zia have greeted the countrymen and Muslims across the world on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.
In separate messages on the holy occasion, they wished peace, progress and prosperity for all – rich and poor.
The holy Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in the country either on Friday or on Saturday subject to appearance of the Shwal moon.
In his message, the President said Eid means delight and happiness. It brings boundless delight and the message of pleasure for mankind after the month-long abstinence [fasting].
“Eid forges bond of harmony, amity and unity among people of all strata and professions,” he added.
The role of Eid-ul-Fitr in building a peaceful and friendly society is immense, the President said and hoped that the teachings of the Eid would inspire all in building a beautiful and prosperous society.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her message, said the holy Eid-ul-Fitr has come with the message of delight after the month-long fasting.
“Eid gives us the unique teaching of peace, compassion and fraternity. It unites all human beings with the bond of equality, amity and harmony,” she said.
The Prime Minister called upon all to reflect the teachings of Eid-ul-Fitr in personal, social and national lives.
BNP Chairperson and Leader of the Opposition Begum Khaleda Zia said Eid-ul-Fitr brings greater unity among the people, sinking all differences and crossing all boundaries in society.
It generates good wishes for one another, she said and hoped that all would enjoy happiness on the Eid day together being united with the bond of amity.
“As Muslims, it is our responsibility to extend helping hands to the poorer, neglected and deprived people of society,being inspired with the spirit of Eid-ul-Fitr,” Begum Zia said.
