BartaBangla Report :: Police did not find any evidence in favour of the allegations in extortion case filed against Independent Television owner Salman F Rahman and two other journalists of the channel by MP Golam Moula Roni.
Submitting final report on Tuesday, police also appealed to the court to discharge them from the charges as the allegations brought against them were found false.
Shaghbagh than police at the same time asked to take action against the ruling party MP for filling false case against the trio.
On July 20, ruling party lawmaker Golam Mawla Roni along with his associates beat up two journalists -Imitaz Sony, a reporter and Muhasin Mukul, a camera crew of Independent TV mercilessly when they went to his office located on the ninth floor of Meherba Plaza at Topkhana Road in the city to perform their official duty.
In this connection a case has been field with Shahbagh police station against 20 people mentioning the name of lawmaker Golam Mawla Roni as prime suspect, on charge of attempt to murder two journalists.
Roni also filed an attempt-to-murder case against the two journalists and the owner of the Independent TV. He also brought attempts of extortion allegations.
Police arrested Rony on July 24.
