Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia on Wednesday claimed that none from the Indian intelligence quizzed alleged militant Sohel Mahfuz arrested in connection with Gulshan Holey Artisan attack.
The DMP chief was talking to reporters at its headquarters in Dhaka.
Asaduzzaman further claimed that Mahfuz’s involvement in the Artisan attack has been proven in the interrogation by Bangladeshi intelligence.
It was said earlier that Sohel Mahfuz would be interrogated by the Special Taskforce of Kolkata Police, and National Investigation Agency of India in connection with Burdwan’s Khagragarh blast.
Indian police had announced a bounty of Rs 1 million in 2014 to nab Sohel Mahfuz as he is an accused in the case of Khagragarh blast.
The DMP commissioner said the Indian intelligence agency did not quiz Mahfuz. Bangladeshi intelligence member quizzed him and elicited information about his involvement in the Holey Artisan attack.
Asaduzzaman said the police will submit the charge sheet of the Holey Artisan attack case “soon”.
He said the police have obtained the forensic report related with the attack.
On July 6, the police detained Sohel Mahfuz in Chapainawabganj. The police said he was a supplier of arms and ammunition to what the police call a militant outfit, Neo JMB.
