BartaBangla Report :: Abducted panel mayor of Narayanganj city council Nazrul Islam was found dead in the Sitalakkha river on Wednesday.
Nazrul’s brother Abdus Salam indentified his body among six decomposed bodies recovered from the river .
Two other bodies were identified as those of Narzul’s associates Tajul and Swapan. The bodies which were tied with ropes, were found 15 kilometres from the district town. Nazrul Islam, lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker and five others went missing mysteriously four days ago.
The incident triggered massive protests in the district. Locals blocked the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway for about four hours and staged demonstration on Wednesday. Lawyers also boycotted the Nayaranganj district court and demonstrated on the streets. Meanwhile, the government formed a high-powered 3-member committee to investigate the incident.
