Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted signal number three, reports UNB.
The cautionary signal has been advised to hoist as the depression over Northwest Bay and adjoining Westcentral Bay and coastal Odisha moved northwestwards over Westcentral Bay and adjoining Northwest Bay off Odisha coast.
The depression was cantered about 760 kms west-southwest of Chittagong port, 750 kms west-southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 560 kms southwest of Mongla port and 600 kms southwest of Payra port at 6:00pm, said a special bulletin of Met office.
It is likely to move in northwesterly direction and may cross Odisha coast near Puri by tonight.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kms of the depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts/squalls.
The sea will remain moderate near the depression centre.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
