BartaBangla Desk :: BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday warned that his party would work on new strategy with its leaders and activists to force the government to reinstate the non-party caretaker government (CG) provision in the constitution.
“We don’t have plenty of time. We’ll apply all the necessary strategies to compel the government to arrange the polls under a non-party caretaker administration by bringing a change to the constitution,” he told a discussion.
Alleging that the government is trying to mislead people by telling them about following constitution, the BNP spokesman said, “The constitution is for people. It’s not a holy book like Quran or Bible that it can’t be changed. The people of the country want to see a fair election under a non-party administration. So, the charter must be amended.”
Jatiya Jubo Jagpa arranged the programme at the Jatiya Press Club marking its 23rd founding anniversary.
Fakhrul said they will soon wage a harder movement to force the government to concede to people’s demand for reinstating the caretaker government system.
