The health Minister Mohammed Nasim has said that the government will eradicate AIDS by 2030. The risk of AIDS is lower in Bangladesh than its neighbors in the South Asia, said the Minister.
He was addressing at a press conference marking the World Aids Day 2017 at the conference room of the Ministry.
The Minister focused on the detail programs of the day.
Nasim informed that the day could not be observed for some reasons and it will be observed on December 6.
The theme for the day this year is “Health is My Right”
The Minister, at the press conference, informed that the rate of AIDS spread in lower than 0.01 percent in Bangladesh. People affected with the disease is around 1 percent.
The potential AIDS patients of the country are around 11,700. Since 1989 to 2017, around 5586 people have been identified as AIDS patients.
The minister opines that AIDS basically spreads in the country through the syringe while taking drugs.
The Secretary for Health also spoke on the occasion.
