BartaBangla Report :: The prosecution on Thursday submitted formal charges against Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General ATM Azharul Islam for crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.
The chief of ICT-1, Justice ATM Fazle Kabir, fixed July 24 for passing an order on whether it would take into cognisance the charges that were brought against him.
A total of six allegations including abduction, confinement, torture, killing, conspiracy and genocide were brought against him.
On June 30, the International Crimes Tribunal-1 asked the prosecution to submit formal charges against Azharul by July 15.
Police arrested Azharul at his Moghbazar home on August 22 last year after the tribunal issued an arrest warrant against him in connection with crimes against humanity.
