The first quarter of the current fiscal has experienced a growth of investors in Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE). Investors are getting interested in the bourse as the share price of some companies is relatively lower, said sources.

Majority of them are foreign and small investors. Foreigners mostly prefer to invest in some selected companies.

The number of Beneficiary Owner (BO) Account was over 29 lakhs on the last date of 2016-17 FY, after the data of Central Depository Bangladesh Limited (CDBL), an organization that keeps share accounts using electronic process.

The CDBL suspended some 270,520 BO accounts for not renewing membership. Gradually the number of BO accounts reduced until August of this year.

The BO account reduced notably and stood as 2,657,240 in July and it was 2,650,705 in August 2017.

But suddenly there was a growth in BO account number from September and the climbing trend is still continued.

Till November 12, 2017, the number stood altogether as 2,698,952, informed sources from the bourse.

Sources also said that a remarkable number of BO accounts have been opened while some of the suspended accounts have been resumed.
