BartaBangla Report :: Controversial ruling Awami League MP Golam Maula Roni was brought to the office of Detective Branch of police immediately after his arrest from city’s Badda area Wednesday afternoon in sensational journalist beating and attempted murder case.
Earlier, a court here issued arrest warrant against the AL MP after cancelling his bail which was granted earlier.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahriar Mahmud Adnan passed the order when police submitted an investigation report against Roni.
Earlier on Monday, Yunus Ali, an Independent TV official, filed the petition with the court seeking cancellation of Roni’s bail.
Yunus alleged that he received death threat over his cellphone from an unknown caller on July 21, the day Roni got the interim bail.
Later, Yunus filed a complaint with Shahbagh Police Station stating that Roni and his men have been issuing threats to withdraw the case after the accused secured bail.
Accepting the petition, the magistrate ordered police to submit a report within 24 hours to the court after investigating the allegation of threat.
Meanwhile, Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam told reporters that party will take action against MP Rony after court takes action against him.
Roni beat up journalist Imtiaz Momin and cameracrew Mohsin Mukul, who belong to a team that produces the crime investigation show ‘Talash’ for the Independent TV channel, at his Topkhana Road office in the capital on Saturday.
In this connection, a case was field with Shahbagh police station against 20 people mentioning the name of lawmaker Golam Mawla Roni as prime suspect, on charge of attempt to murder two journalists.
Roni also filed a counter case against Salman F Rahman, owner of the Independent Television, and Imtiaz Momin and Mohsin Mukul of the television.
Roni also received ad-interim bail on Sunday after surrendering before a Dhaka court.
