arrestBartaBangla Desk :: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained a man from Narayanganj who is a brother of Sajid, the main accused in the Kolkata’s Burdwan blast case.

The detainee has been primary identified as Md Monayem, held from Farajikanda village of Bandar upazila early today.

UNB adds, Tipped off, a team of Rab-11 launched a drive in the area and arrested Monayem early today.

In a major breakthrough in investigation into the Bardhaman blast case, the West Bengal Police arrested Sajid, who the National Investigation Agency (NIA), has described as the “chief of the Bardhaman module”, on Jessore Road in the Indian state on Saturday, according to recent Indian media reports.

Commissioner of Police, Bidhannagar city, West Bengal Rajiv Kumar said Sajid from Narayanganj in Bangladesh had confessed during interrogation that he had been involved in the blast. Unconfirmed reports say he is a member of the Majlis-e-Shura, the central committee of the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh.

An explosion on October 2 in a house at Burdwan in West Bengal killed two suspected militants — Shakil Ahmed and Sobhan Mandal — and left a person, Hasan Saheb, injured.

A team of Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) will arrive here soon to share information over bomb blast.
