asraf in ligBartaBangla Report :: Awami League general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam said on Wednesday that his party will take action against its controversial MP Golam Maula Rony if he is found guilty.

“The law will take its own course. He (Rony) will be produced before the court. All are equal in the eyes of law. If any one commits crime, he’ll be punished as per the law,” he told reporters at the Secretariat.

While asked about Awami League’s action against him (Rony), the ruling party spokesman said, “When the law will punish him, then the party will also take action against him.

Ashraf also said that Rony should stay aside from politics on his own if he is found guilty. “No guilty person should be there in politics, let alone Rony.”

Earlier in the day, a team of DB police arrested Rony from the city’s Badda area, hours after  court issued a warrant for his arrest cancelling his bail granted earlier in a case filed for assaulting two TV journalists.

Rony along with his supporters on Sunday reportedly assaulted Independent TV reporter Imtiaz Momin Sony and cameraman Mohsin Mukul Bakul when they went to Rony’s office on the 9th floor of ‘Meherba Plaza’ at Topkhana Road in the city to verify some allegations against the MP.
