BartaBangla Desk :: Two alleged Yaba traders, known as close aides of controversial local MP Abdur Rahman Bodi, were killed in a gunfight between their cohorts and members of Rab and BGB near Naf river along Teknaf border area in Cox’s Bazar early yesterday, reports UNB.
The deceased were identified as Jahid Hossain Jaku, 43, son of Abedin Saodagar of Kayukh Khali para and Faridul Alam,42, son of Shamsul Haq of Naikhang para of Teknaf. They were enlisted in the list of Yaba traders of the Home Ministry.
Teknaf thana officer-in charge Ranjit Kumar Barua said the gunfight took place between a group of Yaba traders and the law enforcers near Nesar Park around 4 am that left Jaku and Faridul dead on the spot.
The law enforcers recovered 2000 Yaba tablets, 2 LGs, one pipe gun, and 1o rounds of bullets from the spot after the gunfight.
Meanwhile, two alleged Yaba traders, also known as close aides of MP Bodi, who were abducted from Teknaf border area on Saturday, could not be traced till Sunday morning.
The victims were identified as Nur Mohammad alias Lastrip, 27, general secretary of ward-7 Jubo League of Teknaf Municipality, and his brother-in-law Salman, 22. They are residents of Uttar Aliabad village under the municipality.
Their family members alleged that members of Rapid Action Battalion picked up Nur Mohammad and Salman, an allegation the elite force outright denied.
Locals said listed Yaba smugglers by Home Ministry, Nur Mohammad and Salam, control the Yaba trade of Abdur Rahman Bodi’s family.
