BartaBangla Report :: The cabinet Monday approved the second amendment to the voter list law that incorporates a provision to bar convicted war criminals from exercising their franchise.
According to the draft of the law, the name of a person will be excluded from the electoral roll or will not be included in the voter list if he or she is found guilty under Bangladesh Collaborators Order, 1972 and International Crimes Tribunal Act 1973.
Cabinet Secretary M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan briefed reporters on the meeting.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina chaired the meeting held at the Secretariat.
The draft law will be placed for approval before the Parliament during the next session which begins in September 12.
