BartaBangla Desk :: The High Court (HC) on Monday stayed the 5-day remand order a day after a Dhaka court granted the remand of Adilur Rhaman Khan, secretary of human rights watchdog Odhikar.
The HC bench comprising Justice Borhan Uddin Ahmed and Kashifa Hossain passed the order upon a writ petition challenging the legality of the remand.
The court also issued a rule upon the government asking it as to why the remand order against Adilur Rahman would not be declared illegal.
The HC order, however, says Adilur could be interrogated at the jail gate, if necessary.
Earlier on Sunday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Amit Kumar Dey passed the order rejecting Adilur Rahman’s bail petition filed by his lawyer Supreme Court Bar Association President Mohammad Ali. The court granted five-day remand after police prayed for 10 days.
Earlier on Saturday night, Detective Branch (DB) police arrested Adilur Rahman Khan from near his Gulshan residence.
