BartaBangla Desk :: Two pedestrians died when a bus hit them in the city’s Uttara in the morning.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Officer-In-Charge (OC) of Uttara Police Station Rezaul Hasan told that a Gazipur-bound bus of ‘Balaka Paribahan’ knocked them down at Jasimuddin intersection while they were getting across the road at about 9:30am,
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
They also seized the bus and arrested its driver, the OC said.
In another road accident, two people were killed and as many injured when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw hit a motorcycle at Shakta of Keraniganj, on the outskirts of the capital, at noon.
The deceased were identified as motorcyclists Md Russell, 18, and Russell Ahmed, 20.
The injured are another motorcyclist Md Foysal, 20, and auto-rickshaw driver Samad Ali. They were admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
Sub-Inspector (Investigation) of Keraniganj Model Police Station Shah Zaman told that the three-wheeler crashed into the motorcycle at around 12:30pm when three friends were going to Nawabganj from the capital.
Police took the auto-rickshaw to the police station.
In Gopalganj, a Dhaka-bound truck collided head-on with a pick-up van in Gopinathpur on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway in the Sadar Upazila, killing three people.
The identities of the deceased could not be immediately known.
Sub-Inspector of Gopinathpur Highway Police Outpost Ikram Hossain told that the accident occurred at around 4am, leaving the truck driver dead on the spot.
The truck driver’s helper, pick-up van driver and his assistant were admitted to Gopalganj 250-Bed General Hospital.
The pick-up van driver and truck driver’s assistant succumbed to their injuries there in the morning.
