Prolific science fiction author and a teacher of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Dr. Muhammed Zafar Iqbal was seriously injured by a knife attack on the campus today afternoon.
An unidentified youth suddenly jumped in and stabbed him in his back and head while the writer was attending on the stage of a celebration program in the university.
Iqbal was immediately taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital after the incident.
A policeman was also injured in the attack.
The students caught the youth after the attack and handed him over to police.
