Speakers at a post-rally discussion here yesterday said the autistic and mentally retarded children could flourish their latent talents if they were properly cared, nurtured and provided with necessary opportunities, reports BSS.<\/p>\n
They emphasized on creating adequate awareness among the pregnant mothers and parents to reduce the risk of autism and physical disability of newborn babies.<\/p>\n
District Administration and Department of Social Service (DSS) jointly\u00a0organised the discussion at conference hall of Deputy Commissioner in\u00a0observance of the 11th World Autism Awareness Day-2018.<\/p>\n
Earlier, a huge rally, participated by autistic and the people with\u00a0special needs was brought out in the city. Children, government and non-\u00a0government officials, socio-cultural and voluntary organisations,\u00a0professionals, human rights and women activists joined the rally.<\/p>\n
Deputy Commissioner SM Abdul Kader and its Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Shalahuddin addressed the discussion as chief and special guests respectively with DSS Deputy Director Rashedul Kabir in the chair.<\/p>\n
The speakers narrated the present situation on autism and disability around\u00a0the globe and cited various government steps for ensuring welfare of the autistic and physically challenged children.\u00a0Abdul Kader said the autistic, mentally retarded and disabled children and\u00a0people deserve constitutional rights, but not mercy, and they must get all\u00a0privileges and human rights, as they are the integral parts of the society.<\/p>\n
He thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her daughter Saima Wazed Putul for taking various steps in establishing rights of the autistic children and disabled people to ensure their education, jobs, health care and other\u00a0requisite facilities.<\/p>\n
Kader called upon the parents and guardians concerned for paying due\u00a0attention in flourishing inherent talents of the autistic children through\u00a0proper nurturing and providing them opportunities for their normal mental and physical growths and education in congenial atmosphere.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
