Veteran Indian composer-singer Bappi Lahiri says people can\u2019t remember lyrics of songs today. He has compared them to a one-day cricket match.<\/p>\n
Lahiri has been in the music industry for over five decades and his given several hits like \u201cYaad aa raha hai\u201d, \u201cYaar bina chain kahan re\u201d, \u201cTamma tamma loge\u201d and \u201cI am a disco dancer\u201d.<\/p>\n
Asked if he is happy with the lyrics and songs of today, Lahiri told IANS: \u201cThe lyrics which we had before we don\u2019t have that anymore… Can you remember any wordings of a song? We are not going on wordings nowadays.\u201d<\/p>\n
The 64-year-old musician cited examples of songs like \u201cYaar bina chain kahan re\u201d, \u201cSochna kya jo bhi hoga dekha jayega\u201d and said such lyrics are not written anymore.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe film may be a super hit, but the songs do not sustain. Songs today are just a one-day cricket match… The songs from the golden era… that is the test match. Be it Bappi Lahiri, Kalyanji-Anandji, R.D. Burman or Laxmikant-Pyarelal\u2019s songs… People still hum those songs,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
On the work front, Lahiri has dubbed for singer Elton John\u2019s part in the Hindi version of the Hollywood film \u201cThe Kingsman: The Golden Circle\u201d.<\/p>\n
John has a special appearance in the Fox Star Studios film, where he would be playing himself. Bappi has dubbed for this part.<\/p>\n
Action spy film \u201cThe Kingsman: The Golden Circle\u201d includes actors like Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Halle Berry and Channing Tatum. The film is releasing in India on September 22. It is being dubbed in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
