Former police super (SP) Babul Akter has met the investigating officer (IO) of the case against him in connection with the murder of his wife Mahmuda Khanam.<\/p>\n
He reached the city detective branch office in Laldighi, Chittagong, Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Babul entered the room of the IO, also additional deputy commissioner of police Mohammed Kamaruzzaman, at 3:45 this afternoon, avoiding questions from waiting newsmen.<\/p>\n
IO Mohammed Kamaruzzaman told\u00a0reporter\u00a0that investigations are at the final stages. Babul is the plaintiff in the case. He was summoned for questioning.<\/p>\n
Babul\u2019s wife Mahmuda Akter was stabbed and shot dead on 5 June last year at the GEC intersection of Chittagong city by unknown assailants. Babul Akter filed a case against three unidentified persons in this connection with the Panchlaish police station.<\/p>\n
Police had initially said militants may have killed his wife.<\/p>\n
Then on 24 June last year, police picked Babul Akter up from his in-law\u2019s house in Banasree, Dhaka, releasing him after 15 hours of interrogation. On 6 September the home ministry issued a circular announcing his dismissal from service.<\/p>\n
Mahmuda Akter\u2019s parents are now blaming Babul Akter for the murder of their daughter, although they had rejected outright the allegation in the first place.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
