{"id":2114,"date":"2013-08-21T19:03:55","date_gmt":"2013-08-21T13:03:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bartabangla.com\/english\/?p=2114"},"modified":"2013-08-21T19:03:55","modified_gmt":"2013-08-21T13:03:55","slug":"shibir-man-held-for-threatening-to-blow-up-egyptian-embassy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bartabangla.com\/english\/shibir-man-held-for-threatening-to-blow-up-egyptian-embassy\/","title":{"rendered":"Shibir man held for threatening to blow up Egyptian embassy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bartabangla.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/sibir-arrest.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2115\" alt=\"sibir arrest\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bartabangla.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/sibir-arrest-300x186.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"186\" \/><\/a>Bartabangla Desk :: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested an Islami Chhatra Shibir activist, for allegedly threatening to blow up the Egyptian embassy in Dhaka.<\/p>\n<p>M Shawkat Osman, who dropped a handwritten threat letter to Egyptian mission\u2019s letter box, was arrested from Focus Coaching Centre at Farmgate around 12:30pm Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Police said the detained Shibir activist in the letter had threatened to blow up the embassy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Following the threat, the Egyptian embassy in Dhaka on Tuesday announced to keep its Consular section closed for 11 days from Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Office-in-charge of Gulshan thana Rafiqul Islam said, \u201cA person identifying himself as M Shawkat Osman from Firmgate dropped a handwritten letter into the letter box of the embassy on Tuesday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Quoting the text of the letter, the OC said, \u201cStop genocide on Brotherhood\u2026don\u2019t make Egypt like Syria\u2026something wrong may happen like Egyptian embassy firing in Libya.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The letter writer also identified himself as a supporter of Morssi, the OC said adding that security measures had earlier been tightened at the city\u2019s Egypt mission soon after the military crackdown in Cairo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing informed about the threat, we\u2019ve strengthened our surveillance at the diplomatic enclave (Gulshan-Baridhara) to avert any untoward incident,\u201d Islam said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bartabangla Desk :: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested an Islami Chhatra Shibir activist, for allegedly threatening to blow up the Egyptian embassy in Dhaka.
