She stated this while presiding over the 3rd meeting of the national committee on Rooppur Power Plant Project held at her office.<\/p>\n<p>PM\u2019s Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad briefed the reporters after the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Hasina said that the government has already completed many works related with the nuclear power plant.<\/p>\n<p>In this connection, she mentioned that the government signed an agreement with the Russian government last January.<\/p>\n<p>Referring to the power sector development by the present Awami League-led grand alliance government, the Prime Minister said that the present government faced a severe crisis of power when it took office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe took up various types of projects including long, medium and short- term ones to mitigate the power crisis,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>She also mentioned that the government through various types of power plants generated power and gradually the power crisis is fading out.<\/p>\n<p>Hasina criticized the previous BNP-Jamaat alliance government and the army backed caretaker government for the power crisis in the country.<\/p>\n<p>She mentioned that these governments did not generated one megawatt of power during their seven years of rule. \u201cEven they did not try to generate power,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting also approved the decisions that were taken in the second meeting of the national committee on Rooppur Power Plant Project.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting took some decisions after discussion and review, the PM\u2019s press sectary informed.<\/p>\n<p>Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Planning Minister AK Khandaker, Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, PM\u2019s advisers HT Imama, Taufiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury and Dr Mashiur Rahman, State Minister for Science and Information Communication Technology architect Yeafesh Osman and secretaries concerned were present in the meeting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BartaBangla Desk :: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday said that the government will complete the construction of Rooppur Nuclear Power plant in due time.
