Voters crossed 10.5crs
The updating activity of the existing voter list by the Election Commission (EC) is almost done. The EC has reached nearly its target of updating the voter list to around 3.5 million. At present, 3,328,709 fresh voters have been added to the list.
The EC sources revealed that the final updated voter list will be published soon. It might be published in January next year, opined the source.
The EC has completed some of the initial tasks to register the voters and some other relevant matters are underway to finalize and publish the draft list.
The number of new voters for the upcoming parliament election is over 33 lakhs. The number is more for females. Around 1,687,000 female voters have been added to the updated list while the number is 1,643,000 for male voters.
However, the EC estimated to enlist 3.5 million new voters on the list.
The voter list updating began from July 25 this year. The updated draft list will be published in the first week of January 2018.
And the final update will be published on the last date of the same month in 2018.
The estimated cost of voter list update is over Tk 50 crores.
At present there are 101,843,667 voters are enlisted with the EC, says the data from the EC public relations department. And the addition of the new voters will exceed 10 crores.
The Parliamentary Election will be held from October 2018 to January 2019. So, there will be fewer scopes to update the voter list.
