11 exceptional Bangladeshi students studying in Germany have been awarded one-time scholarships by Taptap Send and Degreeola.com. The scholarship award ceremony was organized by the Bangladeshi Students’ Association in Germany (BaHSiG) and took place in Berlin on December 7, 2024. Nearly 150 Bangladeshi students participated in the event, which included both a scholarship presentation and a get-together.

The event was held at a local restaurant in Berlin, with the Minister (Political) of the Bangladesh Embassy in Germany, Mr. Kazi Mohammad Zabed Iqbal, as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished guests included Dr. Mashud Kabir, Chief Engineer of Digitalization and Automation at Deutsche Bahn, Germany’s state-owned railway company; Mr. Zulkar Nine, faculty member of the Computer Engineering Department at Chemnitz Technical University; and Ms. Ummay Ubaida Shegupta, a researcher in the same department.

The scholarship, valued at €300 (approximately 40,000 Bangladeshi Taka), was awarded to 11 talented students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at various universities in Germany. The scholarship was based on academic excellence, leadership skills, and a demonstrated interest in contributing to Bangladesh’s development in the future.

The main sponsors of this initiative were Taptap Send, a popular app for sending money abroad, and Degreeola.com, a platform providing information on higher education and immigration.

At the event, the chief guest, Jabed Iqbal, stated that Bangladeshi students have immense opportunities in Germany. The Bangladesh government is also working on this matter. However, it is unfortunate that students have to wait a long time for visas. “We are aware of this issue, and discussions with the German government on this matter are ongoing. Hopefully, this problem will be resolved soon,” he added.

Special guest Dr. Mashud Kabir said, “The real value lies not in the amount of the scholarship money but in the honor it brings. For those who have received scholarships today, this achievement will inspire them to work for the betterment of the country with even greater results in the future.”

Teacher Zulkar Nine remarked that many students who come to Germany do not complete their studies properly. As a result, their careers face significant challenges. He stated, “If students focus on their studies, they can build a promising career in Germany.”

Researcher Ummay Ubaida Shegupta mentioned that for those who are diligent, genuinely motivated, and hardworking, opportunities in Germany are limitless. “What is needed is skilled effort. With that, it is possible to build a successful career in Germany,” she emphasized.
